What is Women in Homesteading?

Women in Homesteading is an in-person fellowship group dedicated to keeping the old ways alive. We believe in Community Sufficiency. We believe basic skills should be shared freely. Women in Homesteading now has 11 locations (Chapters) across North America -  with a collective membership of over 2000 women! 


Women in Homesteading is a grassroots, community-driven, not-for-profit organization in spirit. We run entirely on volunteers, skill-sharing, and a passion for keeping the old ways alive. While we are not formally incorporated as a not-for-profit, we operate with that heart and structure: every dollar raised goes right back into events, meetups, and resources for our members. 


Why should I join?   With Women in Homesteading - gain access to tons of FREE  resources, FREE in-person skill building Meet-Ups, and a whole community of like-minded Women in Homesteading.. Fellowship and  Buy~Sell-Trade opportunities.  PLUS gain access to exclusive in-person Fee-For-For-Skill Advanced Workshops and Official Women in Homesteading Merchandise.

Our Story

Women in Homesteading was founded in 2024 by Holly from  @50AcreHomestead


We began as a ONE chapter with just TWO members in Marmora, Ontario, Canada.  


Women in Homesteading proudly organizes and executes the annual Eastern Ontario Homesteading Conference.

No.  We do not offer online/virtual Meet-Ups or Workshops.

There are no monetary membership fees.  Your fee is your time; giving of yourself to add value to others.  Donations are always appreciated.  Some Chapters may also accept “dues” to help cover meeting space expenses. 

Keeping the old ways alive includes in-person connection for fellowship and Buy~Sell~Trade.  Plus hands-on learning  -  none of which can effectively be offered virtually.
